Job Scope

- UNIX/LINUX system administrators install, configure, and maintain computer systems and servers running on UNIX. They form an integral part of the IT team and respond to server breakdowns, user issues, and network errors.
- Ensures that the capacity and availability obligations of corporate computing systems are met. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of systems management, maintenance, and performance. Monitors systems availability and performance. Installs new software releases and system upgrades. Evaluates and installs patches. Resolves computing systems related problems. Performs system backups and recoveries.
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot Linux RedHat systems within an enterprise server environment Install O/S patch updates and third party application updates to maintain reliability and security posture. Install, setup and maintain enterprise servers and SANs systems. Operate, maintain and troubleshoot VMware virtualization systems.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, manage, and troubleshoot UNIX/LINUX based OS and associated components such as the OS, File System, hardware issues, kernel and OS performance, DNS, network-attached storage, Storage Area Networks, and networking components including Virtual Local Area Networks, BIOS, and bonded network interfaces
- Install, configure, administer, and support secure remote access utilities and applications including: Secure Shell, Secure Web Access, Virtualization (Hypervisor, VMWare, etc.), and Remote X server access.
- Manage clustering at the OS level, leveraging clustering software as well as other clustering packages (Unix, Linux clustering, etc.).
- Create a backup strategy and manage backup and restore operations on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to meet RTO and RPO requirements.
- Ensure operating environments are properly configured and functioning as per requirements/engineering specifications as related to specified network and storage components and applicable tool suites, performing functional validation subsequent to system or component modification.
- Monitor system performance to identify and correct performance issues.
- provide 24×7 and on-call support to resolve operating environments and/or application outages and performance degradations and provide after-hours support for scheduled/unscheduled support to include working non-prime shifts
Qualifications
- 2+ year of system administration experience
- Knowledge of UNIX and LINUX operating systems environments, SAN storage, file systems & VMware Virtualization.
- Strong knowledge of security, data protection, and disaster recovery.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification is preferred.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
